Welcome to Year 6!
This year the teachers will be Rachel Newport (Amethyst) and Alicia Brisley (Violet). They will be supported by Chris Ramsden and Helen Jones
This year is going to be action-packed, varied and lots of fun ensuring that our boys and girls develop into independent enthusiastic learners who are ready to face the challenge of their transition to secondary school.
Homework is an important part of preparing children to become independent learners it helps to consolidate their classroom learning and will also help to get them ready for year 7. We will set homework on Wednesdays to be returned on Monday or sooner if completed. Please remember that reading continues to be an essential part of the children’s learning; we recommend that this should be done daily.
PE will usually take place on Fridays and Mondays. The children should have their kits in school all week as our timetable (and the weather) varies, so it is wise to be prepared. During the colder months of the year, warmer clothing is necessary. Year 6 will be swimming in term 1 and 2.
Finally, the Year 6 team is always here if you need to talk with us. Please contact the school office to arrange a convenient time for an appointment or pop in at the end of the day. We are really looking forward to working with you and your children this year.
