To celebrate the end of our space topic, Mrs Bamford and I decided to hold a space competition for you all. You have the whole of half term to complete this task. You can create anything space or alien themed using your fabulous art and DT skills. There are a few ideas in the video, but you might like to have a think of your own. Send in a photo by Sunday 21st Feb and two winners will be chosen by lucky dip. Good luck!
Today we will be creating our 3d shape rockets! Have fun and make sure you send in a photo! We would love to see them!
We are really impressed with the posters you have sent in this week! Can you present them to an audience today? We are sure your family or friends would love to hear all about your ride.
Today we will have a practise of reading words with our new ue and aw sounds. Then we will have a play on busythings using the sounds we have learnt this term (sorry for the sounds bite game- I hadn't realised that my face was covering part of the word). Then your challenge for afterwards is to have a practise of writing your tricky words.
Thank you to everyone who took part in our rainbow challenge. We miss you all and can't wait until we are together again. Until then, take care and stay safe!
Tomorrow it is Chinese New Year, so this afternoon we are going to learn all about this celebration and you will have a super fun task of writing your name in Chinese afterwards. The sheet is on the website, or you can pause the screen at the end of the video, as the alphabet is on there. You can use black pen or paint to write your name. Have fun and send in photos! We would love to see them!
Today we will be designing our own 3d space rockets. As a challenge, see if you can draw your shapes for each part of your rocket, using your new 3d shape drawing skills that you learnt the other day. If it's a bit tricky, then maybe you could draw 2d shapes, but label them with the 3d shapes that you will be using. Draw your design onto plain paper or in your blue maths book.
Let's make our posters to advertise our theme park rides today. Remember to include a header, sub-header and pictures. Use your sentences from yesterday to give the reader lots of exciting information about your ride. We're really looking forward to seeing your posters.
Today we will continue with the aw sound. We will be practising to read and spell words with the aw phoneme. Have your orange homeschool book ready and a pencil. There is also a sheet on the website for afterwards- add the sound buttons to the words and then practise reading them. If you don't have a printer, then an adult could write them into your book, or you can read them on the screen.
This afternoon we thought you might like to have a fun recap sessions for some of the learning we have done this term. We will sing some familiar songs and play some games on busythings together. Oceans, continents, 3d shapes, length, days of the week and months of the year are all covered in this session.
Today we will practise the letters u, j and y. Have your whiteboard and pen ready or paper and pencil.
Today we will be looking at the properties of our 3d shapes that we found yesterday. There is a sheet in the website, or you can easily record this in your maths book. Just write the name of the shape, then how many faces, vertices and edges each has.
Whoops! The video cut out during part 1 of our English lesson today. Our second video is a short video which explains your task today. :)
In part one of our English lesson, I will model how to use our labels to write sentences. We will be using our sentences tomorrow to advertise our theme park rides
Today we will be learning the 'aw' sound. You task for afterwards will be to have a go on Picnic on Pluto on Phonics Play (focusing on the aw phoneme).
This afternoon, you are going to have a go at drawing 3d shapes. This is quite tricky, so you may need to be ready to pause the video, or have a few attempts until you get the hang of it. Have a whiteboard and pen ready or a sheet of paper and pencil/pen.
Today we will be continuing our work on 3d shapes. Your independent task will be to go on a 3d shape hunt around your house and record using a tally chart. There will be a sheet on the website, or you can write the name of the shape, then record your tally next to it, straight in your blue maths book.
We are labelling our theme park ride designs today. First, we will label the nouns. We will then consider which adjectives we can use to describe our rides. We are really looking forward to seeing your designs.
Today we will practise writing some words using our new 'ue' sound. You will do this during the lesson, so have your homeschool book ready and a pencil and be ready to pause the video.
Today we are going to think about the planet that we live on- Earth. We are going to focus on how we can look after the environment. Your task today is to ask an adult to take a photo if you looking after the environment. This might be helping with the recycling, or making a bird feeder, or turning the tap off when you brush your teeth. As a challenge, maybe you could create your own poster to stick up in your window to show others how to take care of our wonderful planet.
This week we will be recapping our 3d shapes. We have done a little work on this before, but we thought it would make a nice end to the term, so that we can design and create our own 3d space rockets. Today we will focus on recapping the shape names. There will be a sheet on the website- the task is to match the shapes up to the correct name. If you don't have a printer, you can screen shot or save the sheet and draw the lines to match them up on your ipad/phone/laptop using your editing/paint tool.
Baby Bear finds the moon so boring he would like us to design a theme park ride to go on the moon. What an exciting challenge! Remember to give your ride a theme and name. We will be adding adjectives to our rides tomorrow.
Today we will be learning the 'ue' sound as in 'glue' and 'due'. Your independent task today is to play Odd and Bob on Phonics Bloom. Instructions will be at the end of the video.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
