Match Report: The Churchill School vs All Souls

Final Score: The Churchill School 14-0 All Souls

Churchill School produced a dominant and emphatic performance to round off their Herald Cup group stage campaign with a stunning 14–0 victory.

With a huge turnout of friends, family, classmates and staff lining the sidelines, the occasion had a special atmosphere - and the team responded in style. From the first whistle, Churchill played with flair, humility and relentless tenacity, setting the tone for what would become a memorable performance.

Churchill started on the front foot and wasted no time taking the lead. Ronnie picked up the ball on the edge of the box, shifted it onto his right foot to create space, before coolly finishing with his left to make it 1–0 early on.

The pressure continued immediately after the restart. A ball driven down the wing was flashed across goal, where Ellis was perfectly positioned to slot home from close range. With Leon, Harry and Leo pushing high up the pitch, Churchill condensed the space brilliantly, keeping All Souls pinned in their own half and recycling possession effectively.

A sustained spell of pressure, including a succession of corners, eventually led to Ellis grabbing his second of the game - reacting quickest to a loose ball in the box.

Finley soon added to the tally after being brought down in the penalty area. With composure beyond his years, he stepped up and calmly slotted the penalty into the corner.

Despite Churchill’s dominance, Hudson remained alert in goal, producing a series of calm and assured saves whenever called upon, helping to organise and settle the defence.

Harry, who had been threatening from distance throughout, was finally rewarded when a loose ball from a corner fell to him and he fired home.

Up front, the attacking trio of Ronnie, Ellis and Josh linked up superbly. Ronnie soon got his second, driving towards the box and unleashing a powerful strike that flew into the net - celebrated loudly by his younger brother and sister on the sideline.

Leo was instrumental at the back, consistently winning the ball and driving the team forward, repeatedly picking out Ellis and keeping the momentum going. Churchill continued to create chances, and Josh added another with a composed finish after finding space in the box.

Despite the scoreline, the team remained focused and disciplined, showing great maturity to keep their standards high going into half-time.

As the sun began to dip and temperatures dropped, Churchill restarted with the same intensity. Their dominance of possession continued, with slick passing and intelligent movement across the pitch.

Toby and Ronnie combined brilliantly in midfield, controlling the tempo, playing like prime Iniesta and Xavi, while Freddie added flair with skillful dribbles and clever touches.

Josh completed a well-deserved hat-trick early in the half, finishing from close range thanks to excellent positioning. Finley followed up with another goal, reacting sharply in the box to smash the ball home.

Leon, pushing forward showed great composure to add his name to the scoresheet with a calm and controlled finish - an impressive contribution from a centre-back playing out of position.

Ellis capped off an outstanding individual performance with four goals in total, consistently driving at defenders, creating chances and adding several assists to his tally.

At the back, Jacob delivered a solid and assured performance, helping to build play from defence and maintain Churchill’s control of the game.

Austin was instrumental throughout, consistently driving the ball forward with purpose and intent. His ability to carry possession up the pitch put All Souls under constant pressure, while his vision and awareness allowed him to deliver well-timed passes that repeatedly penetrated the defence.

Freddie rounded off the scoring with a well-taken finish, timing his run perfectly before guiding a bouncing ball into the bottom corner.

An exceptional team performance sees Churchill finish their group stage campaign in style. Every player contributed, showcasing not only technical ability but also teamwork, discipline and displaying the Churchill values throughout.

The players should be incredibly proud of how they have played and the way they have supported each other throughout the campaign. We couldn't be prouder of them.

A huge thank you also goes to the outstanding support from parents, families, teachers and classmates who have supported us on the road and at home. Your encouragement makes a real difference - what an amazing school community we have! Thank you.

We now await confirmation of their final group position and whether there are more fixtures to come - but on this form, they will take great confidence into whatever lies ahead.
