Creative Voices

As part of the Creative Voices project led by Colleen Marin and funded by Creative Partnerships we were able to take the reception class children to an area of woodland every week for a whole year.

We planned activities based on observations and questions and plans initiated by the children. These were based on the philosophy of the “Reggio Emelia Approach”.

You need muscles and control to move branches around.

These boys know what it is like to be in the wood during the Autumn.

Adult support is needed to support the play and develop the ideas of young children. Thank you Mr. Brun.

Branches and logs can be used to build almost anything.

A publication about the “Creative Voices Project” is now being written and will include information about the Canterbury Wood project and others carried out by teachers and children in other Kent schools.
