Opening
of Our New Classrooms |
 |
The opening of the
second suite of classrooms to enable the school to cater for 420 pupils
took place on 22nd October 2004. Air Commodore, Peter Brothers, one of
the “Last of the Few” Battle of Britain pilots who flew spitfires
from Hawkinge Aerodrome made a speech and cut the ribbon.
The classrooms in
Key Stage 2 are soundproofed and the Soundfield system will enable all
children with hearing loss or fluctuating hearing to access the curriculum.

The £50,000 library was built through private funding raising.
One of the main contributors, Elizabeth Haigh used to live in London
as a child but visited relatives at Cross’ Farm in Paddlesworth
every summer. Now 95 years old, she is passionately interested in
education and felt we needed a library.
|
| Although she
did not seek publicity, she agreed to have a stone laid to tell pupils
in this new development that she is part of our history and that books
have been very important to her all her life. The window in St Oswald’s
Church, Paddlesworth, was put in by her family so she is leaving a
little trail in our village. |
|
Seven new classes need seven new names so each of the 'colour' classes
now has a parrallel 'treasure' class.
The 4 year old Foundation
Stage pupils are the Red
or Ruby Classes.
Parallel to the Y1 Orange
Class is the Amber Class.
Year 2 is Yellow
or Gold,
Y3 is Green or Emerald,
Y4 is Blue or Sapphire,
Y5 is Indigo or Jet
and
Y6 is Violet or Amethyst.
The colours of the
rainbow are still reflected in the “treasures”.
