Frequently asked questions

What is an NVQ?
NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualification. They are all about assessing competence in the working environment to a National Standard. An NVQ is assessed by collecting evidence from your practical, everyday work and is not examination based.
Who can do an NVQ?
The principle behind an NVQ is one of equal opportunity so the qualification is open to all people regardless of age, race, religion, disability or gender, who are working in this field paid or as a volunteer.
Do I need to have any formal entry qualifications?
No formal qualifications are necessary. We will help you to decide which level is appropriate to your current skills. Please complete an application form.
Does my work setting need to know about my NVQ?
Definately. They need to know that an assessor will be visiting you at your workplace and you will benefit from their support.
Do I have to complete this qualification in a certain amount of time? You can gain your qualification within a year. You are registered with CACHE for three years if you need to take longer. However you may find that your funding limits the time you can take.
