I have always enjoyed being
with children and I wanted to gain a qualification. It was only when my
children started school that I thought it would be possible.
I really enjoyed the work, I realised that I was more capable at something
that I thought I was......I wasn't just a mum.
Being part of a team meant that I was always supported and I had someone
to talk to.
Finishing the course and getting a full time job as a Teaching Assistant
made it all worthwhile.
Long term I think I would like to pursue a teaching career now that 'I've
got the learning bug!!'

I was helping in
my son's class and I realised that working with children was something
I wanted to do.
I didn't know that there was
a practical qualification that I could access as a parent.
The team were friendly and
supportive. They encouraged me and told me 'you can do it!'.
I now have a job as a part
time teaching assistant working towards NVQ level 3 and I have discovered
that I have a big interest in working with children who have special needs.
I really feel that I have found my niche.
